Meet our summer 2023 MVP Interns, Kortney Fethkenher and Sunidhi Khand! They have proven to be exceptional support for various areas such as facility operations, programs, events, and data collection and reporting.
The MVP Internship offers flexible opportunities in fall, spring, and summer, catering to college semesters. Our interns gain invaluable on-the-job experience while Startup Sioux Falls receives direct support for its visionary founders.

We caught up with summer 2023 interns Kortney and Sunidhi to learn more about the driving forces behind their passion, what enticed them to the MVP program, and some of their takeaways from the program.
Tell us about yourself!
I'm originally from a small town in Nebraska and graduated from Wayne State College in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication/electronic media, minoring in digital film production and international studies. I studied abroad in Athens, Greece in the fall of 2022 and I've now visited 15 countries! I love traveling, videography, social media, and storytelling!
How did you hear about Startup Sioux Falls' internship program and what inspired you to apply?
While in college, I started my own wedding videography business, so I've always had the entrepreneurial bug. While looking for internships, I thought the Startup Sioux Falls atmosphere would be a great learning experience while providing numerous connections as I started brainstorming what career I wanted to pursue.
What are your main responsibilities during the internship, and what are you hoping to take away by the end of it?
As an intern, I handle various tasks, including front desk duties and internal data entry/reporting. By the end of my internship, I am hoping to have gained more insight about what all goes into starting a business.
What's the most interesting, rewarding, or challenging experience you've had thus far?
One of my projects for my internship was to assist with scheduling vendors for the All My Relatives Festival in conjunction with the Levitt. It was rewarding to see it all come together and to connect with the vendors the day of. I loved having conversations with the vendors and learning about their business/artwork. It was also rewarding to see all the vendors have such a successful day!
What do you enjoy most about the Sioux Falls community?
I enjoy how friendly and personable the community is. It's a small enough city where I don't feel overwhelmed coming from a small town, but still has all the amenities!
Tell us about yourself!
Hello and Namaste. I'm originally from Pokhara, Nepal. Currently, I'm a junior at Augustana University and I'm pursuing double major in Finance and Business Administration and looking forward to graduate in Fall 2024. Growing up, I always had a keen interest in the finance and mathematics side of the world and at the current moment I'm trying to gain as much as experience through different internships and jobs related to my major. In the future, I want to get involve in the entrepreneurial and investment sides after having some hands-on experience at Startup Sioux Falls.
How did you hear about Startup Sioux Falls' internship program and what inspired you to apply?
I found the MVP internship posting on Augustana University's employment website. As a finance major seeking exciting prospects, I couldn't resist applying for this opportunity to gain practical experience and immerse myself in the entrepreneurial world.
What are your main responsibilities during the internship, and what are you hoping to take away by the end of it?
My responsibilities include diverse projects, recording and reporting data for a grant, event planning, attending meetings, and handling administrative duties. I aim to gain valuable business knowledge by the end of the internship.
What's the most interesting, rewarding, or challenging experience you've had thus far?
When I am assigned to various projects, I always find myself intrigued by the opportunity to explore new topics and undertake different tasks. Recently, I encountered a slight challenge while working on recording data for a grant. My partner and I had difficulty coordinating due to our conflicting schedules. Nevertheless, we persevered and managed to overcome the obstacles ultimately achieved the desired results.
What do you enjoy most about the Sioux Falls community?
Sioux Falls is an exceptional community, offering a plethora of attractions and opportunities. The city's most striking feature is its rapid growth, presenting numerous upcoming prospects. It perfectly blends urban living with a wide range of recreational activities, making it an ideal place to both enjoy leisure pursuits and call home.
